Everything you need to know before and after booking a local friend with Tourish.jp — how the service works day to day, how our policies operate, and how to stay safe while you explore the real Tokyo.
01
Welcome to Tourish.jp
Tourish.jp connects international travelers with vetted local university student friends in Tokyo. Our friends are not professional tour guides — they are locals who open their world to you: hidden alleys, quiet temples, neighborhood izakayas, and the real city, in English.

How Booking Works
Browse our available friends on the Browse page and choose the one whose specialties match your interests. Send a booking request with your date, duration (from a few hours up to one week), meeting point, and any notes about what you would love to experience.
We confirm your booking by email within hours of your request.
You meet your friend at the agreed public location at the agreed time.
You pay your friend directly for their time — no prepayment is taken online.
03
Your Day, Step by Step
Here is exactly what a day with your friend looks like, from booking to farewell:
Before the day: once confirmed, you receive an email with the details — your friend, meeting point, and time. Reply to that email if anything needs adjusting.
At the start: meet your friend at the agreed public spot (a major station exit works best). Your friend will recognize you and introduce themselves.
During the day: your friend plans the route around your notes — neighborhoods, food, temples, shopping, nightlife — and stays flexible if you want to change plans. They handle navigation, translation, reservations, and photo-taking.
Costs as you go: you pay directly for your own food, drinks, transport, and activity tickets. Your friend will point you to options at any budget.
At the end: you pay your friend for their time (¥3,000/hour or ¥20,000/full day) plus the 10% service fee. Cash or bank transfer, as agreed when we confirm.
After the day: email us with feedback or questions anytime — we read everything and use it to keep the network strong.
04
Pricing & Payment
Our pricing is simple and transparent, with the same flat rate for every friend.
Hourly rate: ¥3,000 per hour, the same for every friend.
Full day: ¥20,000 — better value than hourly. Most experiences run 6–8 hours.
Service fee: a flat 10% added to every booking, covering vetting, secure payments, and support.
Food, drinks, transport, and activity tickets are NOT included — you pay for what you consume directly. Your friend will help you find options at any budget.
05
Cancellations & Changes
Plans change, and we understand. If you need to cancel or reschedule, email us at tourish.com@gmail.com as early as possible.
More than 48 hours before your meeting time: reschedule or cancel at no cost.
Within 48 hours: we will do our best to accommodate you, but your friend’s reserved time may be charged.
No-shows without notice may be charged for the full booked time.
No refunds are available after the reserved booking time has passed.
If your friend must cancel, we will offer a replacement friend or a full release from the booking.
06
Our Safety Commitments
Your safety comes first. Every experience on Tourish.jp is built on four commitments:
Vetted friends: every friend is personally interviewed and vetted by our team in Japan.
Public meetings: bookings always start at a public, well-lit location such as a major station exit.
Open communication: you can message us at any point before or during your meetup.
Responsive support: if anything feels wrong, contact us immediately and we will act on it.
07
Traveler Safety Guidelines
A few simple habits keep every meetup safe and comfortable:
Always meet in a public place for your first meeting.
Share your itinerary with someone you trust back home.
Keep your valuables and documents secure.
Drink in moderation and stay aware of your surroundings.
Trust your instincts — you may end a meetup early at any time, no explanation needed.
Carry identification and keep local emergency numbers on hand.
08
Conduct & Respect
Tourish.jp is built on trust and mutual respect. Treat your friend the way you would treat a friend in your own city.
Harassment, discrimination, or any illegal activity is grounds for immediate termination of the booking and a permanent ban.
Alcohol is fine in moderation, but you remain responsible for your behavior.
Your friend may politely end a meetup early if they feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
09
Emergencies
In any emergency, contact Japanese emergency services first, then let us know so we can support you.
Police: dial 110.
Ambulance and fire: dial 119.
Tell your friend immediately — they speak the language and can help on the spot.
Email us afterward at tourish.com@gmail.com so we can follow up and assist.
